Job summary

CityVet Leander is opening a brand-new veterinary clinic in November 2026, and we’re hiring a Veterinary Technician to join from day one. This role supports veterinarians by prepping patients for surgery, restraining animals safely, obtaining samples, and handling client communication with empathy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience with surgery experience
• Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
• Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication & listening skills
• Self-motivated & team-oriented

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
• Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
• Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
• Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
