Responsibilities

• Assist the veterinarian during examinations and restrain animals as needed.
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments per vet.
• Perform routine dental cleanings under the veterinarian's direction.
• Administer anesthesia and monitor animals’ responses to anesthetics.
• Obtain radiographs with proper positioning and techniques.
• Care for animals recovering from surgery and monitor progress.
• Perform lab tests on blood, urine, and feces to aid diagnosis.
• Provide emergency first aid and life-saving procedures.
• Collect, label and prepare samples for lab testing.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment and materials.
• Provide the veterinarian with the correct equipment and instruments.
• Fill prescriptions, measure medications and label containers.
• Prepare animals for surgery (shaving areas, placing IV catheters).
• Maintain clean examination rooms and treatment areas.
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians to ensure efficient patient flow.
