Job summary

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) in Wilmington, NC, is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join the Surgery & Anesthesia team. This full-time role involves advanced surgery, anesthesia, and complex patient care alongside board-certified surgeons and an anesthesiologist.

We offer a $26–$35/hr compensation range based on experience and licensure, with a $1,500 sign-on bonus and potential up to $3,000 for RVTs with advanced anesthesia experience.

Qualifications

• Current RVT status required.
• Minimum 2 years veterinary technician experience; surgery or anesthesia experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, monitoring, drug calculations, pharmacology, and fluid therapy.
• Proficiency with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures, restraint, and patient monitoring.
• Advanced anesthesia experience strongly preferred for higher sign-on bonus.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Support surgical admissions, patient preparation, anesthesia, monitoring, and recovery.
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout surgical procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement and assist with fluid therapy and medication administration.
• Maintain accurate medical records, daily charges, and surgical documentation.
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure proper use of surgical equipment.
• Support emergency transfers and hospitalized patients.
• Coordinate patient discharges and review at-home care instructions with clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients and the veterinary medical team.
• Help ensure smooth patient flow from admission through discharge.
