BluePearl Pet Hospital in Spring, TX is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician!
A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Preference is given to candidates with a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed.
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:
- Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia protocols, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and make appropriate interventions.
- Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and manage anesthetic equipment.
- Perform physical exams, including checking heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
- Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormalities are detected.
- Set up intravenous fluids and CRIs.
- Continuously expand knowledge and skills, including advanced anesthetic techniques such as epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Setting up and administering subcutaneous fluids.
- Operating all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshooting errors.
- Disconnecting and connecting patients to intravenous fluids aseptically.
- Monitoring patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
- Handling ASA III-V cases and anesthetic ventilator cases.
