BluePearl Pet Hospital in Southfield, MI, is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.


We are currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for credentialed technicians.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Preferably, candidates will have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed.


As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:
  1. Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  2. Utilize your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
  3. Perform physical exams; accurately assess heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
  4. Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormalities are detected.
  5. Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
  6. Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
  7. Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  8. Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
