BluePearl Pet Hospital in Southfield, MI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

BluePearl Pet Hospital offers an exciting, fast-paced role for Veterinary Technicians that allows you to utilize and expand your skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

The schedule for this role includes first shift (5am-3pm), second shift (2pm-12am), or third shift (8pm-6am). It requires a minimum of 2 ten-hour shifts per week, 2 weekend shifts per month, on-call duties, and holiday obligations.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert veterinarians to any changes or issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages accurately, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications appropriately.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train colleagues.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
