BluePearl Pet Hospital in Southfield, MI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

BluePearl Pet Hospital offers an exciting, fast-paced role for Veterinary Technicians that allows you to utilize and expand your skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

The schedule for this role includes first shift (5am-3pm), second shift (2pm-12am), or third shift (8pm-6am). The position requires a minimum of two 10-hour shifts per week, two weekend shifts per month, on-call duties, and holiday obligations.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia using appropriate equipment.
• Triage of emergency cases, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Performing digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understanding normal ranges of vital signs and alerting veterinarians to any abnormalities.
• Identifying patients at risk of arrest and initiating CPR.
• Calculating medical dosages and administering medications via correct routes.
• Performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
• Placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentoring and training colleagues.
• Addressing client concerns with patience and empathy.
