Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care is seeking a skilled Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. You will work closely with board-certified surgeons, residents, and interns to advance postoperative care and surgical support.

Qualifications

• Valid veterinary technician license (LVT/CVT/RVT) required.
• Experience in anesthesia and surgical procedures preferred.
• Excellent communication and organization.
• Team-oriented with leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Support soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and neurosurgical cases.
• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia.
• Prepare patients and maintain sterile technique in the OR.
• Provide post‑op care, treatments, and documentation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents, interns, and the team.
• Communicate compassionately with clients and advocate for patients.
• Support department flow, scheduling, equipment, and supplies.

What You ll Do

• Provide post-operative care, treatments, and documentation
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents, interns, and the surgical team

• Support department flow, scheduling, equipment, and surgical supplies

What We re Looking For

• LVT/CVT/RVT; VTS preferred
• Strong anesthesia and surgical experience
• Experienced Veterinary Assistants may be considered
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Team-oriented approach and strong leadership skills
• Passion for learning and advancing surgical care

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time: Wednesday Saturday, 9:00 AM 7:30 PM or similar, if changed due to hospital needs
• Schedule will be discussed during interview
• Some holidays required
• $25 $38/hour, based on experience and licensure
• Higher range available for VTS
• Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus based on experience and credentials
