About the Practice

Swaim Serum Co. originated in the 1940s when the Swaim family opened a store in the retail market. It wasn’t until the 1990s that the Swaim family expanded into the veterinary industry. Swaim Serum Co. has been servicing Oklahoma City and surrounding areas since then, with many long-time clients.

We are a multi-doctor practice located in Oklahoma City. Our newly renovated hospital has 8 exam rooms and ample space for procedures. We focus on Small Animal Preventative Medicine and see many Internal Medicine cases.

About The Role

The Veterinary Technician assists veterinarians and other technicians with patient care, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs laboratory work, educates clients, and assists with surgeries.

A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs). A $500 bonus for experienced veterinary assistants. Bonuses are paid in two installments at 90 days and 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and treatments.
• Take histories, vital signs, and provide client education during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples, perform lab tests, prepare specimens.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety protocols.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam and lab areas.
• Communicate professionally with clients and team members.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Ability to work weekends as needed.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assistance needed for heavier lifts.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques, including PPE.
• Basic math skills for medication calculations.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office.
• Strong communication skills for patient safety.
