Job summary

Labcorp is seeking an Anatomic Pathologist to join our Madison, WI team. The role involves microscopic evaluation of animal tissue, comprehensive report writing, and necropsy supervision as part of a broader pathology program.

Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent and board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or European College of Veterinary Pathologists. Preference for toxicologic pathology experience and formal residency training.

Qualifications

  • Formal pathology residency or graduate studies in which training of veterinary pathologists is a primary function.
  • Ability to evaluate tissue sections from animals and interpret histomorphologic findings.
  • Ability to formulate pathology tables by direct entry into a data system.

Responsibilities

  • Perform microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissue sections from animals exposed to test materials.
  • Author comprehensive pathology reports and meet deadlines.
  • Supervise necropsies and guide necropsy technicians for accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate significance of pathologic findings to study directors, clients and others.
  • Participate in histopathology consultations, peer reviews and meetings.

Labcorp is seeking an Anatomic Pathologist to join our team in Madison, WI!
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform the complex microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissue sections from animals exposed to test materials and correlate these findings with necropsy, organ weight and clinical pathology findings.
  • Author comprehensive pathology narrative reports of microscopic, gross, and clinical pathology findings, while meeting report deadlines.
  • Supervise necropsies and provide scientific guidance to necropsy technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance with protocols and SOP’s.
  • Communicate the significance of pathologic findings to study directors, clients and other individuals.
  • Participate in histopathology consultations and peer reviews with other pathologists Attend pre-initiation and/or pre-necropsy meetings.
  • Perform internal peer reviews of in-house toxicology reports that include interpretations of Anatomic Pathology data.
  • Take photomicrographs of tissues/lesions as directed by protocol or client request for inclusion in reports, consultations and/or submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Provide diagnostic support to the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine in their disease surveillance programs.
  • Participate in process improvement projects.
  • Attend scientific meetings and continuing education seminars.
  • Author scientific manuscripts and give presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:

DVM or VMD degree or other Veterinary degree Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or European College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 or more years of experience in toxicologic pathology.

Additional Job Standards:
  • Formal pathology residency or graduate studies at an institution in which the training of veterinary pathologists is a primary function.
  • Ability to evaluate tissue sections from animals, including the interpretation of histomorphologic findings for each tissue of every animal, as well as selected special stains and procedures.
  • Ability to formulate pathology tables by direct entry of all histomorphologic findings into a computerized data collection system.
  • Ability to conduct necropsies and recognize, describe and interpret findings at necropsy.
  • Ability to provide scientific guidance and feedback to histology technicians to correct artifacts and prevent reoccurrence of technical problems, and to ensure accuracy and compliance with protocols, SOP’s and client expectations of quality histotechnology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekend work as required or defined by the duty roster.
  • Ability to sit at a microscope for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time for necropsy supervision.
