BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Licensed Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency department in Monterey, CA.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform digital radiography, with opportunities to mentor others and advance through Kahuna leveling. This role offers growth and team collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technician or equivalent.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and placing IV catheters.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital sign ranges and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Mentor and train co-workers; support client communication.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Licensed Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency department in Monterey, CA.

APCA I - LVT IV Pay: $24.28 - $49.19

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
