Job summary

Pieper Veterinary in Essex, CT, is seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Technician to support our Primary Care team. You will be involved in wellness, surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia, assisting with patient care and owner education.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in a busy hospital, an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology, and possibly a CVT license. Join a collaborative team with opportunities for growth and continuing education.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital focusing on nursing care.
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
• CVT license is a plus, additional compensation provided for CVT.
• Experience with phlebotomy and anesthesia.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, materials, and equipment.”
• Ability to work independently and take direction as needed.”

About You

We believe veterinary medicine is truly a team sport and we are seeking a candidate who shares that mindset The ideal candidate is confident in their technical skills across all aspects of general practice including anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring venipuncture dental cleanings drug calculations and protocols surgery and client education In addition to clinical expertise strong communication skills are essentialyou should feel confident collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about their pets care and procedures Experience with CPR and EzyVet is a plus but not required Collaboration is highly valued on our team and we encourage everyone to speak upyour input is not only welcomed but it can make a real difference in patient care and team success

Schedule

This is a full time position Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday 730am 6pm Rotating Saturday 730am to 2pm

Compensation

2100 3000 an hour depending on experience

Requirements

• At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital focusing on nursing care
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus
• CVT license is a plus additional compensation provided for CVT
• Phlebotomy
• Anesthesia
• Knowledge of the use care and storage of veterinary instruments materials and equipment
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques to provide care for patients requiring this
• Knowledge of the instruments materials and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to prepare and provide tableside assistance
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services This includes client needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of client satisfaction
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
