Job summary

Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Middletown, CT is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join a collaborative team. The hospital is a VECCS Level I Facility with emphasis on anesthesia, nursing care and client service. Ideal candidates have at least one year of experience and an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology; CVT license is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and monitor patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Assist with restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement and anesthesia.
  • Support scheduling, ordering supplies and lab tests; maintain instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure high-quality patient care and client service.

About You
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential in a fast paced clinical environment alongside maintaining a high standard of patient care
  • We are looking for a Veterinary Technician who is confident with restraint venipuncture IV catheter placement and anesthesia with at least one year of experience in a busy hospital focused on nursing care
  • Experience with CPR EzyVet and SmartFlow is a plus but not required

Anticipated Schedule

This is a part time position Sunday 6am 4pm

Compensation

Starting at 2250 3000hour dependent upon experience

Requirements
  • At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital focusing on nursing care
  • Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus
  • CVT license is a plus
  • Knowledge with Anesthesia and monitoring
  • Phlebotomy
  • Knowledge of the procedures used for scheduling patients receiving treating ordering medical supplies and requesting laboratory tests
  • Knowledge of the use care and storage of veterinary instruments materials and equipment
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques to sterilize various instruments and materials
  • Knowledge of the instruments materials and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to make preparations and provide tableside assistance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services This includes client needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of client satisfaction
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
