BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an extraordinary Oncology Veterinary Technician!

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system.

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We seek a dedicated veterinary technician to lead our oncology department, providing expert care to pets with cancer. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced diagnostics and treatments, making a real difference in pets' lives.

As an Oncology Technician, you will:

1. Place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
2. Calculate basic medical math.
3. Set up materials for chemotherapy.
4. Safely dispense and administer oral chemotherapy agents.
5. Reconstitute and administer SC/IM chemotherapy agents safely.
6. Check chemotherapy calculations and dosages.
7. Place IV catheters for chemotherapy infusion.
8. Understand chemotherapy extravasation protocols.
9. Admit oncology patients, taking thorough histories including medications, responses, and side effects.
10. Provide patient discharge instructions and client education on handling chemotherapy at home and side effects.
11. Use veterinary medical terminology effectively in communication.
12. Understand tumor types and diagnostic work-up protocols.
13. Assist with anesthesia and monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
14. Remain current with CPR guidelines and perform assigned roles proficiently.
15. Maintain the hospital's daily operations, including stocking and cleaning.
