BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN seeks a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team.

Position

Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our Neurology department.

Work Schedule

4/10’s, on‑call rotation, 1 holiday per year.

Pay Range (APCAI/CVTII)

$25.00 – $37.00 per hour. This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Competitive Shift Differentials
  • Weekday Night (Mon‑Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
  • Weekend Day (Sat‑Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
  • Weekend Night (Sat‑Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00
Responsibilities

Our Neurology Veterinary Technicians help veterinarians craft and review surgical plans and estimates as needed. They perform diagnostics such as radiographs and laboratory work, set up patients for surgery, assist with surgery and imaging (MRI, CT), discharge patients, and handle client communications. A rotating on‑call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, You Will
  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
  • Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc).
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
  • Set up for MRI and CT procedures.
  • Set up for spinal surgeries.
  • Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc.; provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Perform call backs and refill medications.
  • Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the clinician.
  • Perform physical exam and accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters.
  • Be comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture.
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
  • Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics.
