Job summary

VCA Valley Animal Hospital & Emergency Center in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine department. Location: 4984 E 22nd St, Tucson, AZ 85711. Schedule: Full-Time, 5x8-hour shifts. Salary: $16-$23 per hour, depending on education, experience, and AZ CVT license.

Qualifications

• AZ CVT license required.
• Experience in veterinary internal medicine preferred.
• Ability to work full-time 5x8-hour shifts in Tucson.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and collect patient histories.
• Process in-house lab samples and prepare for external labs.
• Manage medical records and correspondence.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging (radiology, ultrasound, CT).
• Support patient recovery and chemotherapy safety protocols.
• Perform venipuncture and catheter placement.
• Maintain safety and restraint of animals.
• Collaborate with all hospital services.

Salary varies based on education, experience, & current AZ CVT license (includes scale for licensed & unlicensed Veterinary Technicians).Skills that our Veterinary Technician in Internal Medicine utilizes, but are not limited to:

• Physical examinations, patient assessment, and collecting patient histories
• Processing laboratory samples in-house
• Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
• Managing medical records, reports, and correspondence
• Assist with Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology, Ultrasound, CT Scans)
• Assist with patient recovery
• Pharmacy
• Venipuncture/catheter placement
• Knowledge and experience with chemotherapy drugs and safety protocols
• Safe animal restraint and handling
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Effective verbal, listening, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services
