Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) in Portland, ME, invites an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to join our expanding team. This role provides hands-on experience in advanced diagnostics, including ultrasound and endoscopy, with cross-training opportunities in Cardiology.

We offer a full-time schedule, competitive hourly pay ($25–$38/hr) based on experience, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT or experienced Veterinary Assistant
• Interest or experience in Internal Medicine or specialty care
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Ultrasound or endoscopy experience a plus
• Familiarity with veterinary software systems
• Compassionate, proactive, and team-oriented approach

Responsibilities

• Assist with ultrasounds, endoscopies, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures
• Support Internal Medicine diagnostics and treatments
• Assist with our radioactive I-131 program for hyperthyroid cats
• Coordinate appointments, patient flow, and follow-up communication
• Maintain accurate medical records and referral documentation
• Communicate compassionately with clients about their pets care
• Collaborate across specialty departments to provide exceptional patient care
• Opportunity to cross-train and support the Cardiology team as well

What You ll Do

Schedule & Compensation

• Full‑time, Monday Thursday
• 7:30 AM 6:00 PM or 8:00 AM 6:30 PM
• Some holidays required
• $25 $38/hour, based on experience and licensure
• Up to $5000.00 sign on bonus based on experience and credentials
