Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) Roseville, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks an Overnight Veterinary Technician for our Intensive Care Unit. You will provide advanced nursing care for critically ill and hospitalized patients while working with emergency veterinarians and a collaborative team during four 10-hour overnight shifts (Wednesday–Saturday).

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• ICU, Emergency, or Specialty experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency processing laboratory samples and performing in-house diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of radiographic positioning and imaging techniques.
• Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement and advanced patient monitoring.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care and continuous monitoring for critically ill hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and CRIs.
• Perform in-house laboratory procedures and diagnostic sample collection.
• Place and maintain IV catheters.
• Conduct detailed rounds and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain thorough electronic medical records and advocate for patients.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

• Provide advanced nursing care and continuous monitoring for critically ill hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and continuous rate infusions (CRIs).
• Perform in-house laboratory procedures and diagnostic sample collection.
• Place and maintain intravenous (IV) catheters.
• Conduct detailed patient rounds and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Obtain temperature, pulse, respiration (TPR), blood pressure, and other vital parameters.
• Safely handle and restrain fearful, anxious, or fractious patients.
• Recognize changes in patient condition requiring immediate veterinary intervention.
• Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records.
• Advocate for patients while providing compassionate communication and support to clients.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

What You Bring

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in an animal hospital.
• Previous ICU, Emergency, or Specialty experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency processing laboratory samples and performing in-house diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of radiographic positioning and imaging techniques.
• Strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement and advanced patient monitoring.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced specialty environment.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
