Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Urgent Care department.

We offer a sign-on bonus up to $2,000 and a 2nd shift schedule. Work includes triage, radiography, anesthesia monitoring, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, CPR and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician.
• Experience in emergency/urgent care preferred.
• Ability to triage and manage critical cases.
• Ability to mentor teammates.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases on arrival and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper positioning.
• Monitor vitals and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vitals; respond to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications appropriately.
• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia with proper equipment.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns professionally.

BluePearl Pet Hospital , the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting , fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and sedation in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
