BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. You will be responsible for anesthesia induction/monitoring, triage, vitals assessment, radiography, and rapid patient care in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technician preferred.
• Ability to induce and monitor anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Strong skills in triage, vitals, and emergency patient care.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges for vitals and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; respond to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Perform medical calculations and administer medications as required.
• Phlebotomy and placing IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.
• This position emphasizes teamwork in a fast-paced emergency setting and requires strong clinical and communication skills.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
