Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers a pay range of $20.00 - $40.50 per hour, dependent on experience and licensure, with differential pay for night and weekend shifts.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage cases, perform radiography, monitor vital signs, and assist with CPR and critical care procedures.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician required; VTS is a plus.
• Experience in Emergency and Critical Care preferred.
• Eligible for compensation commensurate with experience if VTS credentialed.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals including temp, HR, RR, BP.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify arrest risk and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in peripheral vessels.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, licensure and advancement through our leveling system

• Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
