Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The pay range is $20.00–$40.00 per hour, starting point and tied to experience and competency leveling.

This role offers opportunities to expand and grow clinical skills while working alongside highly skilled veterinary professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician in Emergency/Critical Care.
  • Ability to monitor anesthesia and patient vitals.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
  • Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
  • Understand normal ranges of patient vitals.
  • Manage blood pressure and alert Veterinarian to changes.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Compute medical math and administer medications.
  • Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
  • Place feeding tubes and central lines.
  • Mentor and train co-workers.
  • Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay

$20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
