Ethos Discovery is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Clinical Trials team in Austin, TX. The role supports practitioners to enhance patient care and streamline operations across outpatient recovery and specialty services.

  • Fluent English (speaking & reading) required; multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely restrain pets for exams and treatments; administer meds per doctor orders; monitor recovery.
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia; assist in minor surgeries and prep equipment.
  • Collect, prepare and submit lab samples; perform in-house tests; record results.
  • Escort clients, collect histories, explain post-op care, and teach at-home meds.
  • Maintain accurate treatment logs and invoicing codes; document updates.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory, and routine cleaning.
  • Schedule appointments and review daily caseloads; coordinate needs.
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, techs, and team members; escalate questions when needed.

Job Description

Veterinary Technicians are required to assist the practitioners to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients of Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center- ORC and to aid the veterinarians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care & Restraint: Safely restrain pets for exams and treatments; administer medications and treatments per doctor's orders; monitor post-op recovery and assist with patient hygiene and discharge.
  • Anesthesia & Surgery Support: Induce and monitor anesthesia; prepare surgical packs and equipment; assist in minor procedures and ensure post-op areas are cleaned and reset.
  • Laboratory & Diagnostics: Collect, prepare, and submit lab samples; perform in-house lab tests; record results in patient records.
  • Client Communication: Escort clients, record patient histories, explain post-op instructions, and teach clients how to administer medications or fluids.
  • Medical Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate treatment logs, patient notes, and invoicing codes; document all interactions and updates.
  • Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and report issues with equipment (radiology, anesthesia, ICU); assist with inventory and restocking; perform routine cleaning duties.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule appointments and procedures; prepare for daily caseloads by organizing supplies and reviewing next-day needs.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with doctors, techs, and other team members; recognize when to elevate questions or issues.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) or Experienced Veterinary Technicians with at least 3 years of experience, dedicated to providing outstanding client service and excellent patient care.

  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
