Veterinary Technician - Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic

PetVet Care Centers' Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic seeks a Veterinary Technician to join our team in Redmond, Oregon. The role supports hospital operations by providing dedicated veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients.

Position Overview

As a Veterinary Technician, you will assist in animal care, diagnostics, and surgical procedures. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations, assisting during surgeries, providing nursing care, managing medical supplies, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a safe, hygienic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, interviews, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
  • Support patient examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, restraining, and aiding as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and equipment usage for patient care.
  • Obtain and verify medications; administer controlled drugs with proper documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic environment by sanitizing instruments and areas, verifying shelf life, and following regulations.
  • Document patient conditions and updates in the database accurately and timely.
  • Communicate status to pet owners as directed.
  • Maintain equipment function and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Manage inventory, place orders, verify receipts.
  • Continuously update job knowledge through education.
  • Release pets to owners ensuring cleanliness and grooming.
  • Follow oral and written directions; perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Required)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
  • Preferably with experience in small animal clinic.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) as required by state.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered.
