Veterinary Assistant - Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic

PetVet Care Centers' Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians.

Position Overview

Support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks: cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate care to all patients.
  • Greet patients and owners, take weight and vital signs upon arrival.
  • Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by licensed veterinary technicians.
  • Calm and soothe anxious patients.
  • Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint.
  • Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment (e.g., EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors).
  • Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain documentation and security of controlled drugs.
  • Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, and report unusual conditions or behavior.
  • Communicate positively with clients, ensuring comfort leaving their pet(s).
  • Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hospital: clean equipment, kennels, facilities, use chemicals safely, complete laundry.
  • Bath and care for overnight patients, ensuring proper grooming before release.
  • Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Show up for work regularly; full-time presence essential for each shift.
  • Promote hospital products and services and support the organization.
  • Respond respectfully and urgently to directions from DVM or LVT.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Manager; may include specialty areas.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year experience preferred.
Schedule
  • Full Time, Day Shift.
  • Must be able to work Mondays and Fridays.
  • Four 100‑hour shifts.
