Job summary

COVE Animal Health in Portland, ME is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our new general practice team. In this full-time role, you’ll help deliver high-quality patient and client care in a collaborative clinic as we open a brand-new facility.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of small animal practice experience, strong veterinary terminology knowledge, and excellent organizational and communication skills. Some weekends may be possible as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and restrain patients during exams and treatments.

Veterinary Technician Assistant - General Practice

Join a new general practice in Portland, Portland Vet - Stroudwater, and build something new from day one. As our new GP clinic opens its doors, we’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to help deliver exceptional patient and client care in a collaborative and expanding environment.

Anticipated Schedule
This is a full-time position

• Monday through Thursday to start, no weekends or holidays (potential for a weekend day with growth; flexibility is appreciated)
• Bonus potential for very experienced assistants

Compensation

• Pay range $23-29/hr, commensurate with experience and credentials

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Veterinary assistant with at least 1–2 years of experience in small animal practice
• Proficient knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal handling, and basic medical workflows
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills in a fast-paced clinic environment
• Tech-savvy and comfortable learning software like ezyVet
