Job description

Excellent research career opportunity as a Veterinary Technician in Madison, WI! Your role is vital to improving the health of family, friends, and animals. Our work in developing new pharmaceutical solutions has an incredible impact on the quality of lives of millions worldwide.

As a Veterinary Technician, you will perform and document basic veterinary laboratory procedures in compliance with SOPs, GLPs, protocols, and Regulatory Agency guidelines. Monitoring animal health and welfare in accordance with the animal welfare act and upholding a Culture of Care to prioritize animal well-being at all times.

How you will be rewarded as a Veterinary Technician in Madison, WI:

  • Pay Range: $23/hr.-$24/hr. (based on skills, experience, degrees, certifications, and market data)
  • 1st shift – M-F 6:30am-3:15pm for the first three months, with flexible shifts afterward, including options for a 4-day workweek of 10 hours per day
  • Full-time position, with occasional weekends and holidays
  • 24 days of PTO (pro-rated depending on start date)

Job Duties:

Supporting veterinarians by performing radiographs, collecting blood and fecal samples, routine animal care, physical exams, and other veterinary procedures in compliance with SOPs, protocols, and regulations, including:

  • Animal care ensuring adherence to regulatory and ethical standards
  • Animal husbandry duties
  • Reporting and resolving animal care concerns
  • Interpreting basic protocols
  • Understanding GXP principles
  • Reviewing documentation for quality assurance
  • Maintaining confidentiality
  • Utilizing computer software
  • Conducting study activities per protocol and regulations
  • Learning and performing medication administration, physical exams, sample collection, restraint, euthanasia, surgical prep, anesthesia, and surgical procedures
  • Time and resource management
  • Supporting other departments with study-related tasks
  • Understanding Animal Care and Use Activities (ACUA and IACUC)
  • Building positive relationships with veterinary staff and others
  • Participating in process improvements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Life Sciences
  • OR Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology
  • OR equivalent education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification (encouraged but not required)
  • CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician (preferred but not required)
