Job summary

Animal Medical Center of Skokie is hiring a Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative, compassionate team. This full-time role offers a 4-day work week with no nights, weekends, or holiday hours, and a competitive compensation package based on experience.

You will assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, surgeries, and dentistry; monitor anesthesia; collect lab samples; educate clients on medications and preventive care; and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician required.
• Strong patient handling and nursing skills.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance.
• Knowledge of laboratory diagnostics and sample collection.
• Excellent communication and client education skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and restrain patients during examinations and procedures.
• Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient appointments.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dentistry.
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples for in-house and reference laboratory testing.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist during surgical procedures.
• Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, and treatment plans.
• Maintain clean, organized surgery suites, treatment areas, and exam rooms.
• Maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation.
• Collaborate with teammates to provide exceptional patient care every day.
