Qualifications

  • RVT or eligible to transfer state license (LVT, CVT, LVMT).
  • Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and administration.

VCA Northwood Animal Hospital is expanding its Patient Care Team and seeking a full-timeRegistered Veterinary Technician!

Schedule:Full-time, 4 x 10 hour shifts, with rotating Saturdays.

Job Responsibilities(including but not limited to):

  • Perform laboratory work in cooperation with the veterinary team
  • Effectively perform sample collections such asvenipuncture,cystocentesis, fecal collection, earcytology, etc.
  • Place IV catheters, administer vaccines, administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes
  • Prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen samples for outside laboratory analysis
  • Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team
  • Digital imaging
  • Properly annotate medical records
  • Provide client education including post-surgical discharge instructions, answering client questions during technician appointments, and phone call consultations
  • Surgical preparation and monitoring, including calculation and administration of anesthetic drugs
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs under the supervision of a veterinarian

Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or eligible to transfer state license (LVT, CVT, LVMT).
  • Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and administration.
