Job summary

Bayshore Animal Hospital is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team on a full-time, weekday schedule with no evenings, weekends, or major holidays. Competitive compensation is based on experience, with strong benefits and growth opportunities.

You will work closely with veterinarians to deliver high-quality care, perform routine and surgical support, manage patient records, and educate owners in a compassionate, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with routine examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures.
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and other clinical information.
  • Administer medications, injections, vaccines, and treatments under supervision.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients; monitor and report changes.

What our Veterinary Technicians Do

As a Veterinary Technician at Bayshore Animal Hospital, you'll be an essential part of our clinical team and work closely with our veterinarians to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

  • Assist veterinarians with routine examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant clinical information
  • Safely handle and restrain patients during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Utilize Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques to promote patient comfort and safety
  • Perform laboratory testing and prepare diagnostic samples
  • Administer medications, injections, vaccines, and treatments under the direction of a veterinarian
  • Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized patients
  • Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team
  • Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and postoperative care based on experience and training
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records
  • Educate pet owners about animal care, medications, treatments, and veterinarian recommendations
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients throughout their pets' care
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment and patient-care areas
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflow
  • Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through to achieve positive outcomes

  • Previous Veterinary Technician experience
  • Veterinary Technician licensure is welcomed
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills
  • Experience assisting veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures

  • Comfort performing laboratory testing and collecting diagnostic samples
  • Knowledge of medication, injection, vaccine, and treatment administration
