Job Description
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
• Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.
• Opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.
Qualifications
We’re looking for:
• Minimum of two years experience as a veterinary technician. LVT or currently enrolled in an LVT program preferred.
• Ability to perform blood draws, place IV catheters, cystocentesis are a must.
• Experience in exam rooms, surgery, dentals, dental radiographs, radiographs, and associated technical skills are a must.
• Strong knowledge of patient medications, administration, contraindications, and side effects. Ability to calculate drugs, solutions, and dilutions.
• Ability to create, monitor, and maintain detailed/accurate patient records.
• Experience with Cornerstone software is preferred.
• Proactive in maintaining hospital cleanliness and safety.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Proactive mindset, anticipating doctors' needs.
• Ability to effectively educate clients about pet health.
• Effective communication skills with clients, doctors, and coworkers.
• Desire to practice stress-free pet care.
• Empathy and compassion for patients and owners are essential.
Additional Information
Pay Range: Up to $17-$23/hr based on experience
