Job description

The Premier Veterinary Group in Mundelein, IL is looking for a full-time overnight Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care Department!

The primary responsibility is to triage and provide care for patients presenting to and hospitalized in our Emergency and Critical Care Department. The successful candidate embodies our culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.

Schedule and Compensation:
  • Full time needed
    • This position will be for overnights with no rotations onto other shifts.
  • 36+ hours per week, either 3 at 12 hours or 4 at 9 hours scheduled
    • 7pm - 7am OR 10pm-7am (open to discussing other scheduling options that cover hospital needs for overnights)
  • $19-30+ per hour depending on experience (base hourly rate)
  • Overnight shift differential increases your hourly by an additional $1.50/hour
  • Weekend shift differential increases your pay by an additional $5/hour (shift differentials can be stacked for weekend overnights)
  • Participation in some holiday coverage (employees working recognized holidays (8) paid at double time)
Responsibilities:
  • Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Partnering with DVM’s in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Completing patient daily treatments in a timely manner at key treatment times
  • Assessing hospitalized patients, using intuitive skills as a technician
  • Assisting with flow and organization of Emergency and Critical Care department
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
Qualifications:

CVT is preferred but experienced Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technician students are also welcome to apply! To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above listed responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • General nursing care and treatment of patients

  • Client communication and education
Educational Requirements:
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Several years’ experience of related job experience
  • Certification or licensing as a veterinary technician preferred but all skill levels are encouraged to apply!
