Qualifications

• Prior Veterinary Technician experience is required or welcomed licensure.
• Strong patient care, handling, and restraint skills are essential.
• Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and diagnostic sampling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and assessments.
• Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, and assist with fluid therapy.
• Prepare medications, vaccines, and treatments under veterinary direction.
• Assist with in-house lab tests and imaging as needed.
• Maintain medical records and educate clients on care and discharge.
• Support team with a flexible and efficient daily workflow.

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

As a Veterinary Technician at Farmersville Veterinary Clinic, you'll be an essential member of our medical team, working closely with our veterinarians and support staff to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

You'll have opportunities to use your existing skills while continuing to learn and grow. Your responsibilities may include:

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
• Obtain thorough patient histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
• Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate, Fear Free® and low-stress techniques
• Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples
• Place IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Perform and assist with in-house laboratory testing
• Obtain quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
• Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and postoperative patient care
• Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and discharge instructions
• Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and teammates to help maintain an efficient daily workflow
• Keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and equipment clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patients
• Follow hospital safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols
• Share your knowledge, skills, and experience with teammates
• Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers
