Job summary

Dedham Veterinary Associates in Dedham, MA is seeking an experienced veterinary technician for a balanced role between surgery and general practice. The position offers a roughly 50/50 split, with meaningful time in the operating room and on the clinic floor.

You will prep and assist in surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and support safe procedures, while also handling exams, treatments, and collaborating with doctors for excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician with a focus on surgery and general practice.
• CVT/LVT/RVT preferred but not required.
• Able to work evenings and one Saturday per week.
• Knowledge of anesthesia, monitoring and sterile technique required.

Responsibilities

• Spend roughly half time in surgery—prepping, assisting, monitoring anesthesia and supporting safe procedures.

Experienced Veterinary Technician (Surgery-Focused)

Dedham Veterinary Associates – Dedham, MA

$27–$30/hour DOE

Some technicians want to be in surgery all day. Others love the variety of general practice.

If you’re sitting there thinking, “honestly… I want both,” you might’ve just found your spot.

Dedham Veterinary Associates is looking for an experienced veterinary technician who enjoys a true mix of surgical and clinical work. This is a balanced role—roughly a 50/50 split—where you’ll spend meaningful time in the OR and on the clinic floor, using your full skillset.

What you’ll be doing (aka where you shine)

About half your time will be spent in surgery—prepping patients, assisting, monitoring anesthesia, and supporting smooth, safe procedures from start to finish. You’ll be a key part of keeping things running efficiently and confidently in the surgical suite.

The other half? You’ll be fully engaged in the day-to-day of general practice—supporting appointments, handling treatments, working closely with doctors and teammates, and helping deliver excellent patient care across the board.

It’s the best of both worlds: focused surgical work and the variety that keeps your days interesting.

Who you are

You’re an experienced technician who’s comfortable in surgery and confident in your skills. You know anesthesia, monitoring, and sterile technique—and you don’t need constant direction to do things well.

You’re calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator. You take pride in your work, support your teammates, and genuinely care about the quality of medicine being practiced around you.

CVT/LVT/RVT is preferred, but not required—we’re most interested in your experience and surgical skillset.

Schedule & compensation

• Pay range: $27–$30/hour, depending on experience
• One evening shift per week (until 8pm)
• Alternating Saturdays
