Job summary

Sploot Veterinary Care in Chicago, IL seeks an urgent care and general practice Veterinary Technician to join a balanced shift system with no overnights. You will assist vets in surgery prep, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic work, while maintaining clean records and supporting a collaborative team.

Applicants should hold an IL VT license (RVT/CVT/LVT) and have at least 1 year of vet tech experience; emergency care is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois veterinary technician license (RVT/CVT/LVT).
• 1+ year vet tech experience; emergency/urgent care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with surgery prep, anesthesia monitoring, treatments, and diagnostics.
• Perform blood draws, lab work, IV catheter placement, radiographs, medications and vaccine administration, wound care assistance.
• Guide and reassure pet parents by clearly communicating care plans and at-home instructions.
• Maintain accurate digital records, restock supplies, and keep equipment clean and sterilized.
• Contribute to a positive, solutions-focused team environment and support the growth of veterinary assistants.

• Technical & Lab Skills: Perform blood draws, lab work, IV catheter placement, radiographs, medication and vaccine administration, and wound care assistance
• Client Education & Support: Guide and reassure pet parents by clearly communicating care plans and at-home instructions
• Clinic Operations: Maintain accurate digital records (with AI scribe support), restock supplies, and keep equipment clean and sterilized
