Sploot Veterinary Care in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our urgent care and general practice team. You’ll support surgeons and clinicians, monitor anesthesia, perform diagnostics, and help educate clients.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of veterinary tech experience, active Illinois licensure (preferred), and a collaborative, growth‑minded mindset. We offer flexible shifts, no overnights, generous pet benefits, and a supportive, tech‑forward environment.

Responsibilities

• Help build clinic schedules and assist with onboarding new nurses.

Who You Are

• Active licensure with the state of Illinois preferred but not required
• Clinical Experience: 5+ years of vet tech experience.
• Team-First Mindset: Collaborative, communicative, and willing to jump in where needed. No ego - just great care.

• Experience in urgent or emergency care

What You’ll Do

• Clinical Partnership: Support veterinarians with surgery prep, anesthesia monitoring, treatments, and diagnostics.
• Client Education & Support: Guide and reassure pet parents by clearly explaining care plans and at-home instructions.
• Technical & Lab Skills: Perform blood draws, lab tests, IV catheter placement, radiographs (including dental), medication/vaccine administration, and assist with wound care.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide thorough, continuous hands‑on training to both floor nurses and their managers across a region of 4 clinics.
• Support Clinic Staffing: Develop clinic schedules, assist with the interview process for prospective nurses, and support onboarding new nurses.
• Maintain Fidelity of Clinic Operations: Coordinate regular staff meetings and ensure that all team members adhere to attendance and medical policies.
