Job summary

Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital, a Vetcor clinic, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our busy three‑doctor practice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This part‑time role offers a predictable schedule, modern equipment, and a collaborative team that values work‑life balance and compassionate patient care.

You will assist in exams, surgeries, and treatments, perform in‑house lab work, educate clients, and support anesthesia and critical care under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must hold current credential as a Registered Veterinary Technician, Certified Veterinary Technician, or Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• Experience with busy clinical environments is advantageous.
• Strong technical and client-communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in exams, surgeries, and treatments.
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Educate clients about pet care, medications, and preventive care.
• Perform in-house lab testing (CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology).
• Document care accurately in medical records.

• Role: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• Status: Part‑time
• Salary: Negotiable and based on experience & licensure
• Schedule: Ten‑hour shifts Monday and Wednesday. Rotating Saturdays (8 am – 4 pm). Potential for additional shifts as needed.

Our hospital is equipped with digital radiology, dental radiology, laser surgery, and in‑house laboratory equipment, giving our team the tools to provide a high standard of care. What You’ll Do

• Assist veterinarians and team members in exam rooms, surgeries, and treatments
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Educate clients about their pets’ care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care
• Perform in‑house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, and cytology
• Accurately document patient care and treatments in medical records
• Monitor and care for surgical and hospitalized patients
• Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
• Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide exceptional patient care

• Current credential as a Registered Veterinary Technician, Certified Veterinary Technician, or Licensed Veterinary Technician

• Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
