Job summary

AmeriVet in Atlanta is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, maintain a clean, efficient clinic, and ensure compassionate animal care.

You will assist with exams, sample collection, client education, and records using DaySmart/PIMS; weekend/evening availability preferred; full-time position with growth opportunities and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in animal care is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
  • Proficiency with veterinary software and basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms by cleaning and setting up equipment.
  • Restrain animals safely and compassionately for exams and treatments.
  • Administer medications and collect samples under supervision.
  • Educate clients on pet care and post-treatment instructions.
  • Maintain patient records using DaySmart PIMS.
  • Order and stock clinic supplies and medications.
  • Handle client communications, schedule appointments, and reception duties.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms by cleaning and setting up equipment.

  • Maintain accurate patient records using DaySmart (formerly Vetter) PIMS.
  • Order and stock clinic supplies and medications.
  • Handle client communications, schedule appointments, and manage reception duties as needed.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility.
