Job summary

AmeriVet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in animal care across clinics, hospitals, and shelters. The role involves maintaining rooms, preparing equipment, and assisting during examinations with compassion and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams and procedures.
  • Restrain animals safely during treatments and examinations.
  • Feed, bathe, exercise, and monitor animals.
  • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
  • Prepare instruments and equipment for procedures.
  • Collect laboratory samples such as urine, stool, or blood specimens.
  • Administer medications or vaccinations under supervision (as allowed by state regulations).
  • Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information.
  • Schedule appointments and communicate with pet owners.
  • Monitor animal behavior and report changes to veterinary staff.
  • Stock supplies and maintain inventory.
