Job description

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) is looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our surgery department. We are offering a sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for this position. Learn more about the bonus through our application process.

About the Job: As a Vet Tech in the Surgery Department, you will be responsible for:

  1. Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and in a team.
  2. Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; digital radiography; patient prep and recovery; anesthesia monitoring for various procedures including endoscopy, CT, soft tissue surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and laparoscopic procedures.
  3. Assisting doctors during patient appointments, providing excellent client communication and education.
  4. Performing sterile scrub and assisting doctors during surgical procedures such as abdominal explorations, cruciate repairs, fracture repairs, thoracotomies, and laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgeries.
  5. Advocating for patients, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care.
  6. Knowledge of equipment and materials, their availability, and applications.
  7. Ability to work on-call, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.

About You:

  1. Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a progressive veterinary hospital with a focus on anesthesia is required.
  2. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, proactive thinking, and a positive attitude.
  3. Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs.
  4. Proficiency in medical record keeping.
  5. Understanding of all medical records related to patient care.
  6. Experience with anesthetic monitoring is required.
  7. Current or pending credentialing in CA as a RVT is REQUIRED.
  8. Ability to work collaboratively and develop long-term relationships.
  9. Maintain a positive outlook and work well under stress.
  10. Deliver exceptional client service is a priority.

Pay Range:

  • RVT: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
  • VTS: $38.00 - $50.00 per hour

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and credentials.
