Job summary

North Carolina State University’s Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh seeks a Surgery Staff Supervisor to lead our Surgical & Sterile Services across facilities. This senior role balances administration, clinical expertise, and education to ensure high-quality care for diverse species.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team, manage 24/7 operations, and mentor fourth-year veterinary students while maintaining safety and efficiency in a busy teaching hospital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of general research experience, or equivalent.
• Licensed/Registered/Certified by any state.
• Graduation from an AVMA fully accredited two- or four-year Veterinary Technician program.

Responsibilities

• Strategic oversight: manage daily workflow, case assignments, and room readiness.
• Talent management: oversee recruitment, evaluations, and development.
• Coordinate 24/7 staffing, on-call rotations, PTO, and student schedules.
• Instructional leadership: train new employees and DVM students in sterile technique and SOPs.
• Surgical support: provide guidance during complex interventions across multiple specialties.
• Regulatory & safety: maintain safety certifications and hospital equipment standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree and two years of general research experience

Licensed/Registered/Certified by any state

AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program
