Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is seeking a Doctor’s Assistant – Veterinary Surgery to join our busy specialty team in Austin. This full-time role supports surgical consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and client communication, working closely with surgeons and technicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of recent veterinary experience.
• Previous surgery or specialty veterinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical consultations, procedures, recheck appointments, and related documentation.
• Guide clients through pre-operative preparation, discharge, recovery, medications, and aftercare.
• Perform phone triage for prospective surgical patients and help determine appropriate next steps.
• Prepare patient estimates and invoices, fill prescriptions, and coordinate pharmacy orders.
• Communicate with referring veterinarians and obtain medical records needed for continuity of care.
• Follow up with surgical patients after discharge and provide daily updates to families of hospitalized patients.

What You’ll Do
