Job summary

The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery of Connecticut in Greenwich is seeking a Surgery Assistant to help keep the OR running smoothly before, during, and after procedures. This hands-on role requires veterinary experience and comfort with sterile technique.

Qualifications

• Veterinary medicine experience is required.
• Experience with sterile OR protocols is required.
• Surgery experience strongly preferred.
• Able to stay organized in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the veterinarian and surgical team during procedures.
• Scrub in to assist in the operating room when needed.
• Help prepare the OR before procedures.
• Assist with patient prep before surgery.
• Turn over operating rooms between procedures.
• Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments.
• Keep surgical supplies stocked and communicate when items are running low.
• Follow sterile technique and hospital surgery protocols.
• Help keep the surgery area clean and ready for the next procedure.
• Support patient care and recovery as needed.
• Help with other duties as requested by hospital leadership.
