Family Pet Hospital - Edmond externship program offers veterinary students hands-on experience under supervision, focusing on history taking, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery observation or participation.

Designed for 3rd and 4th year students, the externship may include a travel/living expense stipend and is housed within a larger NVA network focused on animal care excellence.

Qualifications

• Third- or fourth-year veterinary students eligible.
• Externships range from two to eight weeks.

Responsibilities

• Shadow the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures.
• Practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients during the externship.
