Ethos Veterinary Health’s Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) in South Deerfield, MA is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist. You’ll be the welcoming first contact, handling registrations, inquiries, and payments while supporting clients, patients, and our medical team.

The role offers a competitive $20–$24.50/hour with a $2/hour shift differential, full-time hours, and benefits including CE access, PPE, license reimbursements, and more.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary client service or receptionist experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for helping people and their pets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients in stressful situations.
  • Proficient with veterinary practice management software.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth and professionalism as the first point of contact for the hospital.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and inquiries with confidence while delivering exceptional service.
  • Guide clients through registration, information gathering, invoicing, and checkout.
  • Explain hospital processes, treatment plans, and charges to clients.
  • Escalate medical concerns to the veterinary team for timely guidance.
  • Coordinate triage and handoffs with nursing staff.
  • Serve as hub between clients, veterinarians, technicians, leadership, and RDVMs.
  • Manage RDVM communications, callbacks, and referrals.

Compensation
  • $19.50–$24.00/hour based on knowledge and experience

Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion as the first point of contact for the hospital.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and client inquiries with confidence while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Guide clients through every stage of their visit, from registration and gathering patient information to invoicing and checkout.
  • Help clients understand hospital processes, treatment plans, and associated charges.
  • Escalate medical concerns to the veterinary team to ensure clients receive timely guidance regarding their pet's condition.
  • Coordinate walk-in patient triage by notifying nursing staff and facilitating smooth patient handoffs.
  • Serve as the communication hub between clients, veterinarians, technicians, hospital leadership, and referring veterinarians (RDVMs).
  • Manage RDVM communications, including callbacks, faxes, and referral inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and process financial transactions.
  • Support reception operations while ensuring an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary client service, veterinary receptionist, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for helping people and their pets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Comfortable communicating with clients experiencing emotional or stressful situations.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn veterinary practice management software.
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-focused approach.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
