Job summary

Lovejoy Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care in Boston's North End seeks a friendly Receptionist to own the front desk experience, greet clients, manage appointments, and support clinical flow. You will discuss vaccines, explain procedures, and coordinate care with empathy and professionalism.

Open 8 a.m.–9 p.m., seven days a week, with evenings and weekends required. Full-time and part-time roles available, with benefits and growth opportunities across our growing hospital network.

Qualifications

• Experience in a veterinary office is required.
• Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
• Ability to discuss sensitive topics (e.g., end-of-life care, finances) with empathy.
• Maintain a calm, professional, and positive demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact: greet clients and their pets, complete sign-in, verify appointment details, and keep clients informed and reassured.
• Support clinical flow: escort clients to exam rooms, relay information between clients and staff.
• Manage client communications: answer calls for appointments and questions, make reminders and follow-ups.
• Process payments, manage invoicing, and schedule future appointments with accuracy.
• Speak the language: explain vaccines, labs, procedures, and veterinary terminology clearly.
• Keep the front desk area welcoming and organized, assist with pet-related cleanup when needed.

Receptionist – Veterinary Front Desk

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: The hospital is open 8 a.m.–9 p.m., seven days a week, evenings and rotating weekends required.

We’re building a brand-new team for our general practice and urgent care hospital opening in October 2026, and we’re excited to add a passionate Customer Service Professional to our lineup!

Lovejoy Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is hiring a full-time and part-time Customer Service Professional to be the knowledgeable, welcoming face at our front desk. This role goes beyond typical administrative assistant duties—it’s about delivering knowledgeable service while confidently communicating in the language of veterinary care. Whether discussing vaccines, explaining procedures, or coordinating appointments, your ability to speak the lingo and anticipate client needs will directly contribute to smoother appointments, stronger client relationships, and better patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be the first point of contact: Greet clients and their pets warmly, complete the sign-in process, verify and confirm appointment details, and ensure clients feel informed and reassured.

• Manage client communications: Handle incoming calls for appointments, care questions, prescription refills, and more. Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-up care.
• Operate with accuracy: Process payments, manage invoicing, and schedule future appointments with attention to detail.
• Speak the language: Understand and communicate clearly about common vaccines, lab tests, procedures, pet behavior, and veterinary terminology.
• Create a welcoming space: Help maintain a clean, organized, and client-ready environment—including occasionally assisting with pet-related clean-up to ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors.
