Job summary

DoveLewis is an AAHA-accredited, nonprofit veterinary hospital in Portland, OR, recruiting a Veterinary Radiologist to lead advanced diagnostic imaging across emergency and specialty services. You will interpret modalities including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiographs; provide reports; mentor staff; and collaborate with a wide team to advance imaging capabilities.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent degree required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in veterinary radiology.
  • Completion of an advanced training program or residency in veterinary radiology.
  • Current Oregon veterinary license or licensure eligibility.
  • Strong diagnostic, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to patient care, education, and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting radiographs, ultrasound, CT, MRI and other imaging studies within your area of expertise.
  • Providing timely, clear imaging reports and practical diagnostic recommendations.
  • Consulting with clinicians to select imaging modalities, protocols and next steps.
  • Performing and overseeing imaging procedures with emphasis on image quality and patient safety.
  • Collaborating with specialists across Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology and other services.
  • Building strong relationships with referring veterinarians and the veterinary community.
  • Advancing DoveLewis imaging protocols, services, and clinical capabilities.
  • Teaching and mentoring veterinary professionals, students, and trainees.

Job description

Veterinary Radiologist

DoveLewis is a different kind of veterinary hospital. As a nonprofit with no private equity or corporate investors, we have built a collaborative community dedicated to caring for every animal and every person who cares for them.

Join our AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level I emergency and specialty hospital as a Veterinary Radiologist and help shape the continued growth of diagnostic imaging at DoveLewis. Our new, state-of-the-art specialty building opened in 2024 and includes a 3 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT, digital radiography, ultrasound, and other advanced diagnostic capabilities.

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Radiologist, you will provide advanced diagnostic imaging expertise across DoveLewis' emergency and specialty services. You will collaborate closely with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and referring veterinarians to support complex cases and guide patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting radiographs, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and other diagnostic imaging studies within your area of expertise
  • Providing timely, clear imaging reports and practical diagnostic recommendations
  • Consulting with clinicians to select appropriate imaging modalities, protocols, and next steps
  • Performing and overseeing imaging procedures with a focus on image quality and patient safety
  • Collaborating on cases with specialists in Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, and other services
  • Building strong working relationships with the referring veterinary community
  • Helping advance DoveLewis' imaging protocols, services, and clinical capabilities
  • Teaching and mentoring veterinary professionals, students, and trainees through rounds and other educational opportunities
What We're Looking For
  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in veterinary radiology
  • Completion of an advanced training program or residency in veterinary radiology.
  • Current Oregon veterinary license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Strong diagnostic, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to patient care, education, and continued professional development.
