Job summary

PIPESTONE is seeking a Veterinary Physician Assistant to join our swine health team in Orange City, IA. You will collaborate with veterinarians, perform on-farm assessments, and help protect herd health.

Ideal candidates have a degree or livestock experience, strong communication, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. Regular outdoor work and occasional travel are expected; hearing protection in certain areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of livestock industry experience.
• Previous swine industry experience required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills; self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Partner with veterinarians to identify disease challenges through sample collection and on-farm assessments.
• Build strong relationships with pig farmers and become a trusted advisor for their operations.
• Develop and promote proactive herd health programs.
• Lead producer education initiatives, including PQA+ certification, site assessments, Secure Pork Plans, and additional training programs.

What You'll Do

• Partner with veterinarians to identify disease challenges through sample collection and on-farm assessments

What We're Looking For

Work Environment

• Agricultural swine facilities in rural communities
• Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Some overnight travel required
• Hearing protection needed in certain areas

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling
• Ability to occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel as needed
