Job summary

PIPESTONE Veterinary Services in Pipestone, MN is seeking a Veterinary Physician Assistant to join our fast-paced swine health team. You will work with veterinarians to support producers on farm health challenges and program development.

The role emphasizes relationship-building with pig farmers, on-farm assessments, and leadership in producer education such as PQA+ certification and site assessments. Travel to eastern SD and surrounding communities is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of livestock industry experience.
• Previous swine industry experience is required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Partner with veterinarians to identify disease challenges through sample collection and on-farm assessments.
• Build strong relationships with pig farmers and become a trusted advisor for their operations.
• Develop and promote proactive herd health programs.
• Lead producer education initiatives, including: PQA+ Certification, Site Assessments, Secure Pork Plans.

Location: Pipestone, MN or Eastern South Dakota (Sioux Falls, Brandon, or Brookings area)
Salary: $65,000-$75,000 annually, based on experience

What You'll Do

• Partner with veterinarians to identify disease challenges through sample collection and on-farm assessments
• Build strong relationships with pig farmers and become a trusted advisor for their operations
• Develop and promote proactive herd health programs

  • Site Assessments
  • Secure Pork Plans
  • Additional producer training programs

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of livestock industry experience

Work Environment

• Agricultural swine facilities in rural communities
• Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Some overnight travel required
• Hearing protection needed in certain areas

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling
• Ability to occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel as needed
