Job summary

PIPESTONE Veterinary Services in rural Kansas/Nebraska is seeking a Veterinary Physician Assistant to join our swine health team. You’ll partner with veterinarians, collect samples, and perform on-farm assessments to identify health challenges.

You’ll build relationships with pig producers, develop proactive herd health programs, and lead producer education initiatives. Travel and outdoor work are required; a valid driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of livestock industry experience.
• Previous swine industry experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Partner with veterinarians to identify disease challenges through sample collection and on-farm assessments.
• Build strong relationships with pig farmers and become a trusted advisor for their operations.
• Develop and promote proactive herd health programs.
• Lead producer education initiatives, including: PQA+ Certification, Site Assessments, Secure Pork Plans, Additional producer training programs.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Work Environment

• Agricultural swine facilities in rural communities
• Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Some overnight travel required
• Hearing protection needed in certain areas

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling
• Ability to occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel as needed
